Philips touchscreen phone just for Chinese market

New Xenium will not see a global release

Pics and specs have been doing the rounds on mobile phone blogs of a new Philips Xenium handset that appears similar in design and UI to Apple's iPhone.

Pocket-lint can reveal however, that this new mobile, if the photos and specifications are to be believed, will only ever be bound for the Chinese market.

Our source within Philips has informed us that the "product is only for the Chinese market and will definitely not be sold anywhere else".

The new handset, apparently the Xenium x800, is said to boast an "e2e" (edge to edge) touchscreen design and an orientation sensor, like other high-end smartphones.

Other features appear to be Wi-Fi connectivity, a browser, gaming and a camera function, but don't get too excited - unless you live in Hong Kong.
