AMD is trying to drag itself from the doldrums with a new line-up of PCs aimed at business users.

The AMD Business Class desktop personal computers were designed with the help of big names in the computing industry including Dell; and are hoped will finally give the ailing company something to throw back at competitor Intel.

The desktops include AMD Phenom X3 triple-core and AMD Phenom X4 quad-core processors as well as AMD Athlon X2 dual-core processors.

The platform will also support non-AMD graphics and chipsets.

AMD customers Acer, Dell, Fujitsu-Siemens, Hewlett-Packard, and Lenovo are all going to sell the PCs, and the notebooks that will arrive later on this year.

But will this initiative be enough to pull AMD into profit?

The company has suffered six consecutive quarters of losses, as Intel increases its market dominance.
