Nintendo has said that it will not be reducing the price of the Wii and the DS any time soon.

According to an interview with Reuters, Nintendo is so confident of bumper sales this year, that any reductions on the two consoles are unlikely it says.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told an analyst meeting on Friday: "Our earnings projection for the year is not based on hardware price cuts, and I don't think we are going to need them".

The news isn't too much of a surprise, the company has stormed to the top of the UK charts with Wii Fit and Mario Kart for the Wii as well as announcing a number of new titles for both consoles that are likely to drive says onwards and upwards.

The situation isn't the same for the company's competitors, with both Sony and Microsoft reducing prices of their consoles in the last six months.
