Carphone Warehouse says iPhone "out of stock"

Asks publishers to stop promoting offer

24 April 2008 22:49 GMT / By Stuart Miles

It seems that the £100 promo off the Apple iPhone announced earlier in the month from Carphone Warehouse has worked, amd worked a little too well.

Web publishers running a promotion for the deal via the Tradedoubler affiliate website were sent an email on Thursday evening asking to pull any reference to the promotion due to a "phenomenal response".

The email reads as follows: "Thanks to the most phenomenal response to the promotion, The Carphone Warehouse is now out of stock on the Apple iPhone".

"Please can you remove all reference to the iPhone promotion in your copy."

"We apologise for the short notice but would like to thank everyone who participated in the campaign. Carphone do not expect to receive any additional stock at this time."

Pocket-lint contacted Carphone Warehouse for comment, however we were told that the company wouldn't comment on sales due to not giving "market sensitivity" data, however the company's website is still taking orders for the 8GB model.

We will keep you posted.
