From mid-April until the end of June 2008, music lovers across Europe will be able to download an album for free when they buy a 2GB or 4GB Memory Stick Micro flash memory card.

Once consumers buy a Sony M2 card, they have to go to the specially created website at www.music4M2phone.com and enter the unique code supplied with the product.

Then they can pick and download an album from one of 50 "outstanding" options on offer.

Featured artists are as diverse and iconic as Johnny Cash and Amy Winehouse, Bob Marley and Portishead, so Sony says there will be something for every taste.
