Improved navigation added
17 April 2008 0:12 GMT / By Stuart Miles
Google has launched a new version of its Google Earth desktop software promising what it says is a higher quality, more immersive experience.
The new update, Google Earth 4.3, also adds more realistic, real-world data.
According to the search engine, the new version will have a new navigation that takes the traditional pan-and-zoom approach associated with mapping programs and incorporates a first-person, ground-level perspective commonly used in video games.
Users will also get Street View, as found in Google Maps a Sunlight feature that will allow you to set the sun's location relative to the Earth and supposedly one of our most requested features an image acquisition date, which shows you on what date a given area of imagery was taken.
In addition Google is promising more, faster 3D buildings including dozens of photo-textured cities and towns, as well as thousands of user-contributed buildings around the world.
