Rockstar has posted the first trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 and it looks absolutely stunning.
Sadly, there's not much to it - just a minute of scene setting - but even that is enough to get us wanting more. Much more.
You can watch it below yourself.
Its official release date is listed as "fall 2017" so there will be plenty of trailers to come in the next 12 months, we imagine. Hopefully we'll also find out more about the main antagonist(s) soon too.
Further details can be found on a dedicated section of the Rockstar Games website. It states the game will be available on both PS4 and Xbox One, but like with the former Red Dead, there is no PC version listed. A small blurb is also posted: "Developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland. The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience," it says.
The announcement and trailer is well timed as PlayStation 2 classic Red Dead Revolver is now available on the PS Store for PS4. And Red Dead Redemption is already playable on Xbox One through backwards compatibility. Interest in the series has upped in recent times.
We already had an inkling Red Dead Redemption 2 was on the cards. A slew of rumours about the game circulated this summer - specifically around E3 time. A map was leaked on NeoGaf, alleged to be a design guide. And Take-Two has previously said that Red Dead Redemption was as important a franchise as GTA. Considering there have only been two games in the series so far, which originally came out in 2004 and 2010 respectively, we're about due another one.
Next year we're going to get it.
