It seems yesterday's news that a Nokia exec had been shouting about the Tube - the phone co's forthcoming touchscreen "iPhone killer" - has prompted Symbian-Freak to come out out of the closet as far as the device goes.

The blogger has gone live with pics and specs showing what is claimed to be the very same code-named "Tube" that Nokia has mentioned on a few previous press occasions.

What was revealed is that the screen is a high resolution 16:9 ratio touchcreen that's between 3 and 3.5-inches in size and will offer both finger-touch and stylus support and will provide haptic feedback.

The camera is said to be a "decent" auto-focus effort, although not said to be as good as the offerings on the Nseries phones.

It's a quad-band handset and connectivity comes in with Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA and WLAN while there's also built-in GPS with geotagging.

Said to be similar in size to the N73, the most interesting revelation, if true, is that this phone will not form part of Nokia's flagship Nseries range, but will launch with "XpressMedia" branding - although apparently a "real touch beast" will be launched soon after this model appears in the first quarter of 2009.

It's all speculation and rumours at this stage readers, so take it all with a pinch of salt - and hit the Talk link to have your say as to whether or not you think this is the real deal.
