Anybody reading the UK newspapers this weekend might've seen some photos by Mike Stimpson recreating classic, iconic images from the past using Lego figures and bricks. They really were quite amazing and apparently some of the major picture agencies who own the originals were a bit twitchy about them - perhaps they felt threatened. Who knows, but it shines a well-deserved spotlight on a wonderful world of plastic aesthetics.More of Stimpson's and countless other artists' work can be seen here - a blog dedicated to works of Lego art.
The kid in me loves this site as does the photographer and art lover and anybody who thinks these images are easy to reproduce should have a go and see.
It's really very clever.
