3Doodler, the company behind the first 3D printing pen, is back with a model aimed specifically at children.

The 3Doodler Start, as it's called, is designed to be super simple so that children can use and enjoy it easily. The original 3Doodler involved extruding hot plastic, but this model is super safe. There are no hot parts on the Start and even the plastic only comes out warm before cooling hard quickly. The plastic is also kid-safe bioplastic.

The 3Doodler Start, unlike some models out there, is entirely wireless. The battery powered device can be loaded with a plastic filament strip and then used anywhere, without being tugged at by a power cable. There's also only one temperature and one extrusion speed to keep things straightforward.

The 3Doodler Start lasts about 45 minutes to an hour on a charge which takes one to two hours via micro USB.

Projects that children can follow, a bit like a 3D colouring in book, can also be found for free online here. There will also be varying packs to buy that add extra plastics or Doodleblocks should you want them.

The 3Doodler Start is available now on Firebox.com for £50.
