Samsung has started the big tease for "the next Galaxy", confirming that the new Samsung handset will be launched on 21 February at 19:00 CET.

The new Samsung Galaxy has long been the subject of speculation and the date of 21 February has been suspected: it's the day before Mobile World Congress opens in Barcelona, and the same point in the calendar that saw the launch of the SGS6.

The SGS7 is expected to be launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, with two devices evolving the design from last year and offering enhanced internal specs.

Samsung has issued a very short teaser video that simply shows a person putting on a Gear VR headset and reaching out for the classic Samsung "unpacked" box. With VR being top of the agenda in 2016 for many, it's a timely theme – but could it also be a hint that we're going to be seeing more VR plays from Samsung too?

Currently there's little else to go on from Samsung's Unpacked Invitation, except that we know it will be streaming on YouTube and via the Samsung Newsroom.

Until then, turn your attention to our comprehensive round-up that details absolutely everything you could possible want to know about the next Galaxy, the Samsung Galaxy S7.
