Over the last few years, John Lewis has firmly ensconced itself as the king of the Christmas commercial, not only with extended short movies but with cover versions of songs that make it to the top five of the British music charts.
This year is bound to be no different, with the retailer's latest epic advert, Man on the Moon. It is heart-warming and cleverly filmed, albeit a little loose on the abilities of telescopes. The music is Half the World Away, written and originally released by Oasis, and covered by Norwegian 19-year-old Aurora.
Fans of The Royale Family will also recognise it, the original version was the main theme tune for that show.
As usual, along with the video of the advert, which we present below, John Lewis has released the track on iTunes and Apple Music. There's also a free Man on The Moon application for iOS and Android, which is available on their respective app stores.
In recent times, the John Lewis ads have made other retailers and brands up their game so it will be interesting to see if any can top the production quality and theme of this latest one. MyVoucherCodes is even claiming that it can make a discount parody version of the Man on the Moon advert in just seven hours and for £700. We shall see it soon.
For now, here's the real deal.
