The EE Pocket-lint Gadget Awards will be taking place at the end of the month for the 12th year celebrating the best devices over the last 12 months, across 12 categories. The categories span phones, tablets and laptops to cameras, smarthome and connected toys and as usual, we will be giving you a run down of all the nominees in each category through a series of features.

Best tablets and 2-in-1's was up first so you can read all about the nominees by clicking here, but this feature concentrates on the best phones of 2015. There have been quite a few changes in the smartphone market this year, not just in terms of design, but also in terms of the technology within them.

Of course they have all become faster with upgraded processors, but USB Type-C has now appeared on some devices, fingerprint sensors are now pretty much a given and some displays are taking things one step further with either dual-edges or force touch.

Design has greatly improved too with Samsung really pulling it out of the bag with the Galaxy S6 edge and Huawei stepping up to the mark firstly with the Mate S and then again with the Nexus 6P, but which smartphone will be crowned winner of the Best Phone of 2015?
