If you've not read Harry Potter or simply need an excuse to do it again, the new Apple iBooks Store release of the series could be perfect for you.

Apple has announced that the entire seven book Harry Potter series will be released in the iBooks Store with entirely new content. The Harry Potter Enhanced Editions will not only feature all the original text but will also have interactive animations, "elaborate artwork" and even annotations by the author J.K. Rowling herself.

Until now the Harry Potter books have only been available to purchase digitally via the Pottermore shop.

The newly available books will feature custom covers and typography including custom Harry Potter fonts as well as new headers and drop caps.

The Harry Potter Enhanced Editions are available in English for £6.99 in 32 countries from today. Pre-order for French, German and Spanish versions begin today for a release on 9 November in 18 countries.

Author J.K. Rowling commented: "I’m thrilled to see the Harry Potter books so beautifully realised on iBooks for the digital world; the artwork and animations in these enhanced editions bring the stories alive in a delightful new way."
