Samsung has just stepped off stage at IFA 2015, after introducing the new Gear S2. But just as it did at the Unpacked event for the Note 5 launch, it used the opportunity to tease a new product.

Saying it was something new, in a new category, Samsung flashed a few images past the amassed ranks of tech journalists and fans, revealing very little about what the new device might be.

Using a series of rectangles, it's obvious that it's some sort of tablet device, but it appears to have some sort of cover, perhaps in some sort of hybrid arrangement. It may well be some sort of reader, but the name Galaxy View puts the emphasis on the display.

One of the sequences suggested expansion, so we're guessing that this is about growing the tablet into something larger, like an 18.4-inch tablet that's designed to be a home viewing device, rather than something portable. We've recently seen leaks suggesting that a just such a device, codenamed Tahoe, might be on the horizon.

Best of all, however, was that Samsung said we'd be learning more in October, so there's not long to wait.
