There have been rumours of late that Microsoft is planning a smaller, slimmer version of the Xbox One - dubbed by the press as the Xbox One Mini or Xbox One Micro - that could even be revealed in October for a Christmas release. However, it seems as if the speculation is unfounded.
Xbox boss Phil Spencer tweeted a response to a gamer who inquired about a new version of the games machine, confirming that there is no such thing.
"Is the Xbox Micro rumour coming out in October a lie?" asked @av_xz.
"Not real," replied Spencer via his Twitter account, @XboxP3.
The rumour originated from Chinese website WPDang but no longer appears on the domain. It seems to have been taken down after Spencer's denial.
Instead, Microsoft are expected to use the October launch event tied to the speculation to reveal new Lumia handsets. There will also likely be a Surface Pro 4 tablet and new version of the company's fitness tracker - the Band 2.
Whether the firm considers a new, slimmer version of its console in the future is up for debate. To be honest, it's just hoping to have a good Christmas with the existing model. And thanks to exclusives like Rise of the Tomb Raider, Forza Motorsport 6 and Halo 5, there's no reason it shouldn't.
