Misfit, best known for its Shine activity tracker, has teamed up with Speedo to create its first water-specific wearable. The Misfit Speedo wants to make swimming data collection easy.

The Speedo branded tracker will not only track swimming but will work as a full activity tracker on land for step, calorie and distance counts as well as sleep tracking. It even tracks cycling too.

Best of all the Speedo Shine doesn't require charging, at all. The company says it should last as long as the current shine meaning 5-6 months before a battery change is needed.

The Misfit Speedo, that works with Android and iOS connected phones, can display laps, swim distance, calories burned and points earned. The device will also work with the Speedo Fit app soon.

Of course if you want to see any of that while in the pool you may need to shell out for a waterproof phone case.

The Speedo shine is made from aircraft-grade aluminium and is light silver in colour. The device is waterproof to 50 metres

The wrist worn Speed Shine will be available worldwide from 1 September for $80 which is about £52.

Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin says: "One of the most difficult parts of swimming for fitness is keeping track of laps and the Speedo Shine eliminates that challenge. With the Speedo Shine, you can focus on getting the most out of your water workout and it’s also a great looking accessory to wear."
