ITV gets online F1 rights

Live simulcasts and catch-up service goes live

Ahead of the new racing season that begins this weekend, it has been announced that ITV has secured the series' online rights.

The deal means itv.com has become the official UK online "home" of Formula 1, supporting the company's broadcast coverage on ITV1 and post-race highlights programming.

ITV will stream live simulcasts of the races online, along with video clips of certain practice sessions on the Friday before raceday, which are generally not broadcast on television.

The Sony-sponsored service will also offer features and a 30-day catch-up video-on-demand replays of ITV1's F1 coverage.
