Microsoft has announced its intended acquisition of Kidaro, a provider of desktop virtualisation solutions for enterprises.

Microsoft says that by combining Kidaro's virtualisation technology with its suite of desktop management tools, Microsoft will be able to offer IT pros better management capabilities for "Virtual" PCs.

"The acquisition of Kidaro is an important component of our virtualization strategy, and it delivers a powerful new tool to help enterprise customers optimize their desktops", said Shanen Boettcher, general manager of Windows product management at Microsoft.

The terms of the deal, or the price Microsoft paid for the company, have not been revealed, but the suggestion is the acquisition was around the $100 million mark.
