Gucci and have just announced a new fashion smartband that the two have created in collaboration.

The device was announced as BaselWorld 2015 gets underway with luxury brands like Tag expected to unveil smartwatches.

The Gucci smartband is a stand alone device, like the first wearable from, meaning it won't need a smartphone connection to operate.

Apart from looking good the band will also be able to make and receive calls, texts and emails as well as storing music, maps and calendars and also tracking the wearer's fitness.

The band is 3G enabled and should be voice controlled. It will also feature a front-facing camera for video calling. Sensors for sport and health tracking include a heart rate monitor, temperature sensor and GPS.

Development of this wearable has been four years in the making.

The band sounds like a fashionable version of the original Puls that announced a few months back.

Battery life has not been mentioned. The Puls battery was built into the strap. If this is the same then perhaps that can be changed out allowing the wearer to carry spares if needs be.
