As the Apple universe awaits the revelations to be made by Steve Jobs at the iPhone software development kit event in the States, one new application for the phone may have just been revealed.

It seems the BBC's on-demand iPlayer service - criticised in the past for being slow to be offered across different platforms, including for Macs - is getting iPhone-friendly.

The BBC's iPlayer site now has a "Beta BBC iPlayer for iPhone" badge when navigated to with an iPhone. Content is not yet playable on the iPhone, but we'll be expecting more news very soon.
