Casio has launched a new middle of the range digital camera on Thursday in the US.

The new model, the Casio Exilim EX-Z9, promises to offer 8.1 megapixels and a 3X optical zoom.

Other features include a 2.6-inch wide LCD display and a mind-numbing 23 Best Shot Modes. The EX-Z9 will also offer face detection technology.

The EX-Z9 comes loaded with other features including Anti Shake DSP which reduces photo blur from shaky hands or moving subjects and an Easy Mode that promises to simplify the camera settings to three easy menus (image size, flash and self timer).

Available at retail in March, the EX-Z9 will be available in pink, black, silver and orange and will cost around $159.99 in the US.

No word from Casio in the UK as to when the EX-Z9 is coming to the UK.

We will keep you posted.
