Acer today announced a new version of its fitness band, the Liquid Leap+.

The Leap+ is based around a touchscreen core sitting in a rubber strap. It can be popped in and out, meaning you can switch straps to get a different colour.

The Leap+ itself features a 1-inch OLED display and it all operated by touch, there's no buttons, so it offers a slick and fuss-free design.

The strap uses the push connect system we've seen in a number of other places and we found it easy enough to fit and comfortable to wear. It's also IPX7 rated, so should survive days out in the rain too.

The Acer Liquid Leap+ will track your steps, running distance and calories burnt, which can all be monitored in the companion Leap Manager app on your smartphone.

One of the more unique propositions is that Leap+ works with Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

You'll be able to control your music and read notifications too.

Sadly the sample we got to play with didn't have any charge, so we didn't get to have a look through the interface.

The Acer Liquid Leap+ is available in March and will cost €79. There's no word on UK pricing yet.
