Nikon has introduced two compact cameras to its range that are designed for the photographer with an adventurous streak. Coming in at two radically different price points, the Coolpix AW130 and Coolpix S33 are weatherproof and able to shoot stills and Full HD video underwater.
The daddy of the two is the AW130, which is waterproof to a depth of 30-metres so can be taken diving. It is also shockproof to 2m2, dust proof and cold resistant to -10 degrees celsius.
It houses a Nikkor 5x optical zoom lens (24mm f/2.8) which is expandable to 10x digital zoom. There is a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and vibration reduction to be able to take those shaky action shots.
The camera also has NFC and Wi-Fi connectivity for instant sharing with a smartphone or other device. And there is built-in GPS and GLONASS support to ensure your shots are tagged with your location.
It can also create 10-second time-lapse movies.
The Nikon Coolpix AW130 will be available from 26 February at £279.99.
The S33 is a less expensive option, at £89.99. However it is also waterproof, albeit to 10-metres. It is also cold resistant and shockproof.
There is a 13-megapixel CMOS sensor inside and the lens is a 3x optical zoom Nikkor. That's expandable digitally to 6x.
As more of a family fun camera, there are both adult and child-friendly menu systems and the S33 has automatic underwater face framing technology. As soon as it recognises faces it will release the shutter.
The Nikon Coolpix S33 will be available from 5 March.
