Netflix has released the first trailer for Daredevil, am upcoming 13-episode series set to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Each episode will be one-hour long and available in Ultra HD 4K on compatible TVs, with the first episode premiering on 10 April at 12:01 AM PT in all territories where Netflix is available. According to the trailer's video description, the show is about Matt Murdock. He was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses.
Murdock fights injustice by day as a lawyer and by night as the vigilante known as Daredevil. Charlie Cox, who also starred in The Theory of Everything and Boardwalk Empire, will play the role of Murdock, with the rest of the cast including Vincent D’Onofrio, Rosario Dawson, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and others.
Daredevil is being executive produced by showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, whose past work includes Spartacus and Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, along with Drew Goddard, who is known for The Cabin in the Woods and Lost, and Jeph Loeb, who worked on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Smallville, and Heroes.
Goddard also wrote the first two episodes of the series, which is produced by Marvel Television in association with Disney-owned ABC Studios. Netflix's deal with Disney will not only see Daredevil brought to the streaming service, but also three other live-action adventure series called A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage.
All four series will culminate with the main characters teaming up in Marvel’s The Defenders.
