British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden and Onkyo have joined forces for a new venture called Maiden Audio. What that will produce is currently underwraps for now it seems, but the possibilities are exciting enough for fans.
As part of the launch campaign, which is to be explained in more depth at CES in Las Vegas, the project has its own online photo tweet wall, which you can see rolling in real time at maidenaudio.com.
Visitors to the stand are invited to take pictures of a giant Eddie statue (the undead creature that's synonymous with the band) either alone or with themselves and tweet it using the hashtag "#MaidenAudio". Instagrams and tweets posted will make up part of the scrolling wall.
Other than that we're currently in the dark as to what Maiden Audio might result in. Our best guess would be a new headphone line best suited to Iron Maiden's brand of rock n' roll. There have been plenty of celebrity-endorsed headphones in the past, including a line sponsored by Motorhead, but we suspect that the band will have a greater say in the tuning and quality of the products.
We'll let you know more as soon as the full unveiling has occurred.
