Buffalo Technology has the made moves to offer homes the ability to stream HD content around the home with a launch of a new media streamer at CeBIT in Hanover, Germany.

The new player, called the LinkTheater HD (LT-H90LAN), however, will only offer a wired rather than wireless connection around the home.

Media files can be streamed through the device from a number of sources such as a hard drive or Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) device as well as from a networked PC, USB drive or straight from a video or still digital camera.

Costing £91 and available online from the usual stockists now, the LinkTheatre will include a series of connections so you can hook it up to your television.

Connections include a HDMI socket, an Ethernet port as well as optical audio connector, composite analogue audio/video connectors and Scart adapter.

The LinkTheater HD supports playback of MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, H.264 (MPEG4 AVC), WMV9, Xvid, AVI, HDV, AVCHD video formats, AAC-LC, AAC-HE, WMA, MP3, Dolby Digital (AC-3), WAV, AC3, MP2 audio formats and JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, TIFF image formats.
