Virgin Media has finally added Sky Sports News HQ HD to its channel line-up almost half a year after the high definition versions of Sky Sports 3, 4, 5 and F1 were introduced. It said at the time that it would include the HD version of Sky's sporting news channel "soon" but it seems that an agreement between the services has taken longer to come to fruition than originally expected.

Virgin Media has also added the HD version of Sky News to its electronic programme guide. You can now find Sky Sports News HQ HD on channel 511 and Sky News HD on channel 603.

Both channels are added for free for Virgin Media XL TV customers, not just those who subscribe to the sports packages.

Both Sky Sports News HQ and Sky News have been available in their standard definition forms for some time and will continue to be so.

"The addition of these channels to our line-up ensures our customers can enjoy even more breaking news, gripping sports stories and insightful features in the stunning clarity of HD," said Stephane David, executive director of content at Virgin Media.
