If you, like us, were gagging for some Uncharted 4 treats to keep you going until the game finally lands on PS4, today is a good day. Footage has been shown off by game creator Naughty Dog showing the stunning graphics and gameplay of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

The adventure game sees the return of protagonist Nathan Drake who has retired as a fortune hunter and is on an international pursuit of an historical conspiracy behind rumoured pirate treasure.

The latest in-game trailer reveals a new character in Nathan Drake's older brother Sam. The voice actor Troy Baker, who is another big name in gaming voice-overs like Far Cry 4 and The Last of Us, confirmed he would do the voice for Sam.

So why has Naughty Dog decided to reveal these treats out of the blue so far ahead of its 2015 release? Tomb Raider, Uncharted's direct competition, will be getting a new game released in the form of Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris tomorrow. This is not Rise of the Tomb Raider which should be released exclusively on Xbox as PlayStation gets Uncharted 4 exclusively. But this just shows the companies behind the games don't want the other to get more coverage in the lead up.

For some the exclusive release of Uncharted 4 on PS4 and Tomb Raider on Xbox One will decide which console they buy when going next-gen. But it's been rumoured that Rise of the Tomb Raider will only be a timed exclusive on the Xbox before coming to PS4. That could affect console sales between now and then.

An exact date for the release of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has not been announced but we do know it will be arriving in 2015. Expect Tomb Raider to arrive near to then too and the console wars to continue to heat up.
