Tesco launched its second Hudl Android tablet yesterday for £129 - a staggering price considering the specifications and build quality. However, if that's still a touch out of your price range the UK supermarket chain has heavily discounted the first Hudl, originally released last year, to just £79.

Listed on the brand's Tesco Direct online store page, the Tesco Hudl is still a decent 7-inch tablet, especially at that price point. It received four stars in our review last year, when it retailed for £119, in which we said that it is "great for entry users of any age or ability and whatever their tastes and preferences".

The original Hudl has a 7-inch IPS LCD screen with a 1440 x 900 pixel resolution (242ppi). It runs on a 1.5GHz Mali 400 quad-core processor, and comes with 16GB of on-board storage.

It originally came with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean from the box, but we'd expect that an update would be available as soon as you connect it to the internet.

All of the colours for the Tesco Hudl are available at the £79 price point it seems and it seems you can still use Clubcard Boost to knock that price down further. Essentially, for every £5 worth of Tesco Clubcard vouchers you attach at checkout, you get £10 off Hudl tablets and accessories.

If you can afford the extra £50 though, we thoroughly recommend you favour the Hudl 2 though, it is a truly excellent device for the money.
