The fruit giant, Apple, is getting ready to announce this year's refreshed range of iPads where it will add a gold model, according to sources of Bloomberg.

People familiar with the plans of Apple say it wants to sell more of its 9.7-inch iPads after a drop in sales last year. It's almost a year since the last iPad update back in October 2013.

Apple will reportedly be introducing the new gold colour iPad so that its tablet offering mimics the iPhone 5S colour palette. The iPhone 5S also comes in Space Grey and Silver – perhaps the new iPads will have all these colour options on release.

The news comes after Apple has begun selling a larger iPhone 6 and tablet-like iPhone 6 Plus. Apple is likely concerned that the sale of larger iPhones could eat into its tablet sales.

Apple is also expected to announce a new 12.9-inch iPad. This will be ideal for enterprise customers and could be Apple's answer to Microsoft's Surface 3 which is aiming to replace laptops like the MacBook Air. This larger iPad isn't expected to be on sale until next year.

We're hoping to get invites to an Apple event where it will launch the new iPads this month.
