4oD follows iPlayer with new year uplift

110% increase in traffic since 1 Jan

It seems that that BBC iPlayer isn't the only UK TV station getting a boost from online views and downloads this year.

Channel 4 is claiming the number of people using PCs to access its 4oD service has grown by 110% so far this year.

The service which was launched in December 2006 is currently celebrating its 100 millionth download.

According to the company there were 6m PC streams or downloads between 1 January and 25 February.

The service which says it has 3.3m users - 1m on PCs and 2.3m on television through Virgin Media, BT Vision and Tiscali TV has also revealed the biggest shows revealing its skew towards younger audiences.

Its top five shows since launch are Hollyoaks, Skins, Shameless, Big Brother and Peep Show.

This year's favourite so far is Skins.
