Philips Fidelio B5 wireless soundbar is 'smartest' ever, comes with detachable Bluetooth speakers

Woox Innovations, manufacturer of Philips audio products, has announced a soundbar that comes with two detachable speakers to turn it into a more complete surround sound system when necessary.

The Philips Fidelio B5's detachable speakers can also be used as independent Bluetooth speakers, so can be taken into another room independently, even the garden, for music wherever you want. And the main part of the soundbar can be used as a third Bluetooth speaker.

Battery life on the two detachable units is claimed to last up to five hours for music playback, up to 10 hours for certain movies, The main bar also has Bluetooth aptX and AAC support for high-fidelity streaming, plus NFC for easy pairing with suitable smartphones.

The soundbar comes with audiophile-grade 3-inch full range drivers and soft dome tweeters and has support for both Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic II audio outputs. And the wireless technology inside all of the components is proprietary, so they shouldn't conflict with other wireless devices in the home.

The Philips Fidelio B5 wireless surround soundbar speaker will be available in October for 799 euros, A UK price is yet to be revealed.
