With the Zenbook UX305, Asus says you can still have style on a budget

Asus has announced a new Zenbook at IFA 2014 in Berlin claiming that it is the world's slimmest 13.3-inch laptop.

The new Zenbook UX305 ultrabook will feature an all aluminium chassis and measures just 12.3mm thick. It follows the usual design cues found on previous Zenbook models, such as a tapered wedge design.

Weighing 1.2kg, the new model will be powered by an Intel Core M processor, come with a 13.3-inch display with a resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels and 256GB SSD hard drive.

Those specs make it virtually identical to the UX303 already announced and in the shops.

That model features the same display, but instead of the Intel Core M processor, Intel iCore i7 or i5 processors. The UX303 also comes with bigger hard drive options up to 500GB.

Available in two colours, customers opting for the presumably cheaper (pricing has yet to be confirmed) UX305 will be able to go for an Obsidian Stone with Zenbook's signature spun-metal finish, or a silky-smooth Ceramic Alloy shade that will be soft to touch.

The new laptop is expected to be available before Christmas and aimed at those looking for some style but happy to compromise on power.
