Best games of Gamescom 2014: The best PS4 and Xbox One games at the show
We are slap bang in the middle of the biggest revolution in gaming for many years and there's no better example of that than the sheer number of fantastic games, triple-A and indie, on show at Gamescom in Cologne this year.
The focus is very much on Xbox One and PS4, certainly from the major publishers and console manufacturers, and it is simple to see the progression between games scheduled for a Christmas or 2015 release and those that appeared in the two next-gen machines' launch windows.
Finally, it seems, the consoles are getting the games they deserve.
We have been scouring the halls and behind-closed-doors experiences to get glimpses and hands-on experiences with titles, some of which not even coming until late 2015, to build a bigger picture of how the games market will be shaped in the next year. And so we feel that we are in a position to highlight the titles we think will be standout hits with gamers worldwide.
Some are obvious, some not so. All are great, we think.
You can scroll through the gallery below to find out which games we most adore and some of the reasons why. We'll also be updating this feature as and when we get to see new titles. Hopefully, you'll agree with us that each and every one of them has superb potential.
If there are others you are excited by that we've excluded, please let us know in the comments below. And catch up with all our coverage from Gamescom in our dedicated hub.
