HTC is almost certainly joining the Android Wear brigade with its own smartwatch. A recent internal "behind the scenes" video of the HTC design studio has confirmed it's not only working on a smartwatch but has at least a prototype already built.

The watch appears to be square, like the LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live that are already available with Android Wear.

A leaked image of HTC's smartwatch was shared by @evleaks recently looking very similar to the watch in this video. This, coupled with the official nature of this video 'leak' would suggest we can expect it to arrive soon.

Motorola's Moto 360 will be the first round Android Wear smartwatch which, some say, is why it won't be out until later this year. HTC's smartwatch appears to be square so there's nothing holding it back from a release soon.

HTC is expected to unveil its smartwatch this autumn, according to rumours. Whether it will look like this leaked model or if this is just an early prototype isn't clear. Either way it's near certain HTC will be joining the Android Wear gang soon.
