Toshiba show off upscaling television

Promises to improve picture quality

Toshiba has shown off a concept technology at its 2008 product preview event in the UK that promises to upscale your television footage from standard-def to HD.

The tech, which promises to work in a similar way to how upscaling DVD players work, will take the television signal and give the impression of an increased resolution and clarity.

Pocket-lint was able to snap some images and video of the tech in action.

Currently the new technology isn't available commercially, however Toshiba told us that it hopes to include the feature in their top of the range models.

We will keep you posted.
