Website of the day: Dronestagram

It was once very rare to bear witness to the birth of a whole new medium. But the speed at which technology is moving means that, these days, new ways for people to display their creativity come along almost weekly.

A good example is drones. Not that long ago they were the exclusive property of the military. We only read about them in the headlines.

Now, they’ve become so advanced, so accessible and so affordable, that almost anybody can take to the skies with their own unmanned aircraft.

Couple that with the high-quality but small-scale optics in modern digital cameras, and it’s hardly surprising that something like dronestagr.am came along.

We’ve been talking about it on our news pages for a few days, after a couple of shots featured on the site picked up top National Geographic photography awards.

But this is where it all happens. A whole community of people who have taken photography to new heights.

Literally.
