Watch Amazon's Jeff Bezos show off new Fire Phone in event video

Amazon introduced the Amazon Fire Phone earlier today at a press conference in Seattle, and now video of that event is live on Amazon's YouTube channel.

Watch the video below to see Jeff Bezos, Amazon's founder and chief executive offer, show off his company's first smartphone. He started the press conference by going over all of Amazon's achievements in the hardware space, and then he slid right into unveiling the Fire Phone.

Bezos not only discussed why Amazon wanted to tackle the smartphone market but also the many features that make their new offering unique. He highlighted and thoroughly described software features, for instance, such as Firefly, MayDay, and dynamic 3D perspective.

On the technical side of things, Amazon said the new smartphone features a 4.7-inch HD display, quad-core 2.2GHz processor, Adreno 330 graphics processor, 2GB of RAM, 4G LTE, 13 MP rear-facing camera, and multiple front-facing cameras with infrared.

At the end of the event, Bezos welcomed AT&T on stage to talk about price and availability. The carrier announced that the 32GB Fire Phone would launch in July for $199 on a two-year contract exclusively through AT&T, and that you could pre-order starting today.

Looking at Amazon's hardware patterns, the Fire Phone will likely become available in the UK and Europe within a year after the US launch. That hasn't been confirmed, though we have contacted the company for details on global availability and pricing and hope to update soon.
