In-car phone holder and hands-free units from Belkin allows users to comply
with UK mobile phone legislation

Belkin (www.belkin.com), the leading manufacturer of connectivity solutions, today clarified just what the new laws regarding the use of mobile phones whilst driving means for mobile phone users on the move. Under the terms of the new legislation, it will be an offence to use a mobile phone or similar device whilst driving if the driver at any point holds the phone during its use. The definition of 'holding' has been extended to include the practice of cradling the phone between the ear and shoulder.

The new mobile phone legislation not only applies if the engine is running, but also if the vehicle is stationary, for example, at traffic lights. To use a handheld mobile phone and stay legal, the vehicle would have to be actually parked with the engine switched off.

"As with most legal infractions, ignorance will not be a defence for people caught holding a mobile phone handset while driving, so it is imperative that everyone understands these changes in the law," comments Robin Falconer, Sales and Marketing Director, Belkin. "At Belkin, we have made it easy and affordable to comply with these new laws, by offering a range of products that will suit a wide variety of mobile phone users who need to be contactable whilst on the road."

The Belkin Universal Hands-Free Kit allows users to use their mobile phones whilst travelling in a vehicle. The kit comprises of an in-car phone holder and a hands-free unit. It allows users the freedom of using a mobile phone safely, and legally whilst driving. The in-car phone holder attaches to the air vent in the car dashboard, and the hands-free Boom Ear Piece noise-cancelling feature removes all background noise. The unit features an adjustable spring-loaded clip, which fits any size of mobile phone, and comes with 5 hands-free connectors. The Belkin Universal Hands-Free Kit is compatible with most Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Siemens, Motorola, Panasonic, Sharp, Alcatel, NEC and Sagem mobile phones.

Belkin offers a wide range of hand-free products that provides customers with maximum handset support and features. Also available is the the AirFlow Hands-Free unit, the Telescopic Hands-Free Kit, and the ActiFlex Boom Hands-Free kit.
