Google will give you £50 Google Play credit when you buy a Nexus 7

Google has launched a promotion for the Nexus 7 in the UK. Customers buying the tablet from Currys & PC World, Tesco, Asda, Carphone Warehouse or Very.co.uk will, for a "limited time" also receive £50 worth of credit to spend on the Google Play store.

The offer is for those who buy the £200 16GB model by 1 June. They have up to 30 days to redeem the offer from asuspromotions.com/googleplay and require the purchase receipt to hand.

The credit can be used on any items in the Play store, including apps, music, movies and TV shows.

It's a very generous promotion that has lead some to believe, Pocket-lint included, that a new Nexus tablet device is on the way. There has been a lot of talk recently about a Nexus 8 8-inch device, possibly made by HTC, and it would make sense for Google to clear stock of the 2013 model before an announcement.

After all, Google I/O begins on 25 June.
