EA reportedly secures rights to Titanfall 2, planning PS4 release

Game publishing powerhouse Electronic Arts has secured the rights to publish the Titanfall sequel and wants to extend it past the Xbox One, according to GameSpot.

The publication reports Electronic Arts will bring Titanfall 2 to Sony's PlayStation 4, ending Titanfall's current exclusivity to the Xbox One when it launched to much fanfare in February. Electronic Arts was behind the first Titanfall, so it only makes sense to launch the second version.

The publisher teased the launch of Titanfall on the PlayStation 4 in the past, when Blake Jorgensen, an executive at publisher Electronic Arts, said: "I'm sure that there will be future Titanfalls at some point that may be on multiple product platforms," when speaking on a conference call with investors in November 2013.

Furthermore, game publication Polygon hears from its sources that Titanfall 2 won't be a Microsoft exclusive. Given the first Titanfall just launched, specific details surrounding the second version are nonexistent.

"We do not comment on rumor or speculation," an Electronic Arts spokesperson said in a statement. "Right now all our focus is on supporting all the fans worldwide enjoying Titanfall."

Microsoft is enjoying the nice sales bump it's getting from the Titanfall launch for its Xbox One. The title is said to have helped double sales of the Xbox One in the UK, after a Titanfall bundle was launched in the country for £369.
