Apple to release iOS 7.1 'any day now'

Apple will release iOS 7.1 "any day now", an update expected to bring several software enhancements to the platform, according to John Gruber of Daring Fireball.

The prominent Apple blogger says the release is necessary for a new iOS app that will stream Apple's first iTunes Festival in the US starting next Tuesday at SXSW in Austin. The app will be released to coincide with iOS 7.1, which explains why it's not out.

iOS 7.1, currently in testing with developers, will feature fixes for iOS 7's "white screen of death" bug, visual changes to the slide-to-unlock functions, as well as the phone, dialer, music, and keyboard, improvements to the keyboard, and a new dialer.
