Two new 5 megapixel cameras from HP

HP has announced the launch of what seems to be two virtually identical cameras - the HP Photosmart R817 and R818. Both models feature a Pentax 5x optical lens, 5.1 megapixel resolution and HP's “Real Life” technologies.

Both cameras also have a 5.1cm LCD screen, a choice of 15 unique shooting modes including a new 'theatre mode' designed for concerts.

The HP “Real Life” technologies include In-camera Panorama stitching, Adaptive Lighting Technology and In-Camera Red-Eye Removal. Both models are also equipped with a 'video mode'.

The only difference we can see with the new models is the paint job. The HP Photosmart R817 comes with a bold silver finish, whilst the R818 model comes with a dark midnight grey metallic finish.

The HP Photosmart R817 Digital Camera is available in July bundled with the HP Photosmart R-Series Docking Station at a recommended street price of £349 or can be purchased on its own for £299.

The HP Photosmart R818 Digital Camera is available in August bundled with the HP Photosmart R-Series Docking Station for £399.
