FitBit announced on Friday that it will voluntarily recall its Force fitness tracker, following a "small number" of customers seeing skin irritation after normal use.

FitBit said a small percentage of Force customers reported the issue. However it decided to stop selling the Force, for the time being,"out of an abundance of caution". FitBit has posted a webpage where concerned customers can send their fitness band in for a new one.

"From the beginning, we've taken this matter very seriously," FitBit CEO James Park said. "We hired independent labs and medical experts to conduct a thorough investigation, and have now learned enough to take further action."

The company found materials used in Force are "commonly found in many consumer products," and that the affected customers were likely seeing an allergic reaction. Still cause for concern, considering the Force is meant to be worn 24/7.

Customers fed up completely can get a refund of their Force for full retail price.

You may expect a rash to form after wearing anything on your skin over a long period of time, but if you go over to The Consumerist and don't mind seeing what isn't a normal skin rash, you'll understand why a few customers are upset.

"We are working on our next-generation tracker and will announce news about it soon," FitBit told Pocket-lint.
