Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 slated for mid-March release for $449.99
The base model of the camera, announced at CES 2014 in January, will run customers in the US $449.99. On board, the Galaxy Camera 2 is packing a 16.3-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor with 21x optical zoom. The camera also comes with 50GB of free Dropbox storage to complement the upgraded 8GB (previously 4GB) internal storage and a microSD slot for up to 64GB storage.
Upgraded inside the camera is a faster 1.6GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 2000mAh battery upgraded from 1650mAh to provide better battery life. All that and it's lighter at 283g (from 300g).
Samsung has marketed its Galaxy Camera line as a portable camera capable of taking great shots, but also able to share photos on the go through Instagram, Facebook, Google+, email, and more, thanks to the on-board Android interface. At $449.99, it's priced competitively against other point and shoot cameras.
