iTunes Festival heads to US at last, to debut during SXSW with Coldplay headlining

Apple will host its first iTunes Festival in the United States from 11 to 15 March during SXSW in Austin, Texas. Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Pitbull, Keith Urban, ZEDD and other as yet unannounced artists will perform for five nights at ACL Live at the Moody Theatre.

As with the annual event in London, Apple will stream all performances for free via the iTunes Store on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC, or accessed on demand after. The gigs will also be available to watch through the iTunes Festival app on iOS devices or in HD on Apple TV.

"The iTunes Festival in London has become an incredible way for Apple to share its love of music with our customers," said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice-president of internet software and services.

"We're excited about the incredible line-up of artists performing and SXSW is the perfect place to debut the first iTunes Festival in the US."

The SXSW festival features a blend of music, film and interactive entertainment from 11 to 16 March.
