LG's Heart Rate Earphones gain regulatory approval, could launch in US soon
LG's heart rate-tracking earphones have gained regulatory approval in the US, after crossing the desk of the FCC on Tuesday.
When LG took the wraps off the Heart Rate Earphones alongside its Lifeband Touch in January, a release date wasn't provided. The heart rate-tracking earphones passed with flying colours on Tuesday, which could indicate a launch soon. We've contacted LG in the hope of learning a specific date. In the past, it's said the headphones will be available in the US in the first half of 2014.
The Heart Rate Earphones can work in conjunction with the Lifeband Touch to let you hear exactly how fast your heart is beating. Furthermore, they feature PerformTek sensor technology that carries the capability to measure blood flow signals from the external part of the ear and feed it to a Bluetooth dongle that communicates with a handset. Of course, you can also get your Miley Cyrus jams over Bluetooth streaming, as well.
Pricing hasn't been announced for the Heart Rate Earphones that signal a new wearables push from LG. Past the US, LG has confirmed to Pocket-lint it's also planning a launch for the earphones in other territories shortly after.
