The HTC One on Verizon is next to get Android 4.4 KitKat. It now makes Verizon the second carrier behind Sprint to give the update "carrier certification", the last step before the software is released to the public.
Mo Versi, head of product management at HTC, confirmed the KitKat update will be landing on the Verizon HTC One in the form of an over-the-air update "shortly".
HTC has been relatively transparent about its process bringing KitKat to its flagship, beating Samsung in the process. HTC missed its 90-day update promise, but says it won't be much longer until KitKat is found on all HTC Ones. Sprint users could get the update this week.
HTC has already begun to roll out the update in parts of Eastern Europe, Canada, Middle East and North Africa in force. We've contacted HTC to learn more about the KitKat rollout in the UK and on AT&T and T-Mobile stateside, and will let you know if any more details come to light.
If you're on Verizon, be looking out for the update coming your way any time now. A few readers have already reported seeing it.
