You can now buy a Toshiba Chromebook in the UK and US.
Toshiba originally revealed in January at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that its new Chromebook would launch on 16 February. Now the company has apparently moved that release date ahead a couple of weeks.
Toshiba just released its Haswell-powered Chrome OS laptop in the UK and US. On its US website, the company has listed the new Chromebook for $299.99. That's about $20 more than what Toshiba previously said the laptop would cost.
However, many other US retailers, such as Adorama and Amazon, have listed the Toshiba Chromebook for $280. As for Amazon in the UK, it is selling the Toshiba Chromebook for £249. You can expect shipments to start on 10 February from Amazon UK.
Toshiba's first Chromebook features a 13.3-inch 1366 x 768 display, HD webcam, stereo speakers, full-size keyboard, HDMI socket, 16GB SSD, 100GB of Google Drive, 2GB of RAM, 9-hour battery life, two USB 3.0 ports, and an SD card slot. There's also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.
Lastly, Toshiba's Chromebook sports a "light gold" (but, really, silver-looking) plastic case. Check out Pocket-lint's hands-on of the device for more details.
